Its been awhile since my last blog, been busy busy. I had no idea my etsy shop would be so busy for Valentines Day!! So needless to say, Ive been working away. On Sunday, I was cleaning out a closet full of junk {good junk!} and I stumbled upon this Santos doll that I had tucked away in a box for "one day". A few months ago while browsing at a local market, she caught my eye and came home with me. Because I loved her so much, she ended up tucked away in my closet so she wouldnt get broken. I didnt have the perfect spot to display her. So back in the 'safe box' she went. Im not sure if I will ever find the perfect spot, so I thought perhaps one of my lovely readers could enjoy her! So, sadly, Im parting with her....

Now to the details!
She's very sturdy, and has a lovely face. She measures 21 inches tall. The base at the very bottom measures 6 1/2 inches across. Her bodess is 9 inches tall. Her dress is a muted creamy gray with black dots. She has 4 hooks, looks like for jewelry, or display of some sort. She's kindof aged looking, although Im pretty sure she's new, but very cool and unique!! I think she would be great as a display piece in a store if you make/sell jewelry.

Many people have asked me about the little birdnest in the photo that I use for my custom listing (and other listings). I thought I would share with you where it came from....

Well, it came from the floor in my studio! LOL! Usually when Im finished for the day, I clean up the work space in my studio. And theres always a pile of burlap scraps, threads that have been cut, pieces of jute, lint & fuzz, ect. One day as I was gathering up 'the pile', and I thought "hmmm, I wonder if I can make this into a cute nest??" I got out my glue, and carefully shaped it into a nest. I love that its not perfect, and a little rough around the edges, but it instantly stole my heart. Im amazed that something so simple and beautiful can be made from what was normally headed to the trash can. Maybe this will inspire you to go make something beautiful out of YOUR scraps! You never know what will come out of it!

If you love the look of old vintage glass glitter then you will LOVE this banner! I mixed several colors of glitter to get that tarnished German glass glittered look without using glass glitter. This is safer on delicate fingers then the real deal.

Hang it anywhere to add a little vintage to a small space! Hang it above the Christmas tree, on a small shelf, above a small window, on a chunky mirror, the knobs on a dresser or cabinet....DOUBLE jute twine ties on each end for sweet easy hanging!

As a burlap artist, I have so many scraps that I just set to the side for my 'someday pile'. These little 'somedays' are beginning to pile up in a basket. I really dont have alot of spare time to 'create' with such a busy store, but sometimes I have to MAKE time to dig into my someday pile. Sometimes, I get an idea, and it bugs me until I make it. And too, Ive noticed lately that there are so many people (a.k.a. "COPYCATS"!) on etsy now making burlap banners, so I really really try to come up with NEW items, just to attempt to make myself stand out a bit. I like to offer new and different things. Plus, creating is just something I HAVE to do. So heres what came out of my 'someday pile', I do hope they sell pretty good. Please look away from the ugliness of my back yard. We really do have to do something about it soon! The hubby and I work 7 days a week, and dont have time to garden like we'd like to.

Wouldnt any of these signs be cute hanging on the back of the get away car at the wedding? Or hanging above a bed? Or hanging on the back of the chairs at the Bride & Groom table?

Here are the sweet little chair banners, love these too! Any of these can be customized with your colors, words, names....ect.

All made from burlap, vintage lace and a feedsack fabric (that is oh so yummy!) with extra long double jute twine ties so you can tie them onto any kind of chair! These can also be customized with names, colors, words...ect.!

I decided to let the contest go on a little bit longer! Thank you to all of you for the entries (and wonderful comments!) I wanted to let you know that my sweet dog (you can see him below in another post) was the deciding factor here. I took a handful of treats and wrote each of your names on a single treat (not in ink, but edible pen, for baking) and let him choose! I spread all of the treats out on a plate, then set them on a table. I put him up on the table so the treats were his main focus. The winner is the one he chose, and ate!

As you can see here, he's making his choice....

He ate the treat that said "LuLu"!! Thank you to all of my entries! It was nice to hear from all of you!

OK, so I get this convo today on Etsy. Please keep in mind, its a little vulger but I spit my coffee all over my screen from laughing so hard! I HAD to share it!! Here goes....

You have the best shop on etsy in my opinion and I am certain that is the opinion of others. When I looked at the skanks shop, I was shocked, the shop is an exact replication of yours and that has got to be the most disrespectful display of copy-cat BS I have ever witnessed. Unethical, gross conduct.

Anyway, your banners and everything look so way more better than hers anyway, her font choice is gross and ugly. Your stuff blows her shit away, so know you are loved by your customers and those smell holes with flies buzzing aound their hair pies will be beamed up by UFOs's!

Once again, I have driven all over town trying to find a good spot to take photo's of my new banners! Im tired of using the crappy ole ugly fence in my back yard, Im tired of driving all the way to the park, only to have a bunch of nosey onlookers standing around WATCHING me.

To resolve my problem, Ive decide that Im going to build something. Ive been making these banner for about 3 years now, you'd think I would have something FABULOUS to use as a backdrop display for my banners!! But Im stumped. I'd like some ideas. Does anyone out there have a great idea?? Perhaps something you've seen in a magazine, or at a trade show, the flea market.....Im open for any ideas you have! I thought about building something out of an old fence, or using a bunch of old windows...??

My little pal. Best dog in the world!

This is harlie. We adopted him about a two years ago and he stole my heart from the very beginning. Im not fond of his name, but I had to keep it because he knew it so well. He was about a year old when we got him. The previous owners loved him, but could no longer keep him. Im sure it was hard to give him up, but he's perfectly happy with us. He follows me wherever I go. He's the best dog anyone could ask for. He doesnt chew, he does not 'go' in the house, he loves to ride in the car and the boat, he loves going to grandma and grandpa's house, he listens when I call him (all I have to do is say 'treat!' and he comes running!) He loves his cookies! And best of all, he loves me!

"I couldn't help but notice that you seem to be very outspoken about integrity on Etsy, but I couldn't help but notice that you have incorporated some other seller's products and ideas into your banners. It seems that your shop has been successful, so why would you need to use these and other questionable tactics? By other tactics, I am talking about rude and fake emails that you sent to try to get ideas for new products. Yes, I do know about those.

Is she serious?? I literally laughed out loud when I read this! This is coming from the person that has copied EVERYTHING I do! And she doesnt even have the balls to say who she is, but i can tell its her because she's done this before (opened up a different user name JUST to convo me, thinking I wouldnt know it was her!) My reply was..

"What are you talking about? What convo's, what fake emails? What have I copied??" and you know what? I have not heard back from her yet! Because there is nothing! She has nothing better to do than harrass me!

Time to move on to bigger and BETTER things! Spring is finally here, and it hit 84 degrees today (perhaps that is what changed my attitude??) Afterall, you guys dont take well to any negativity at all! Everything is so 'hush hush', and why? Why should we not speak our minds? Why are we supposed to put on a fake smile and keep going, like nothing gets to us? What happened to being REAL?? I have to express myself, no matter what. Its not always right, its not always professional, but I feel better. And helps me get over whatever is bothering me. Plus, I am a unique person, different from all of you. Just like you are different from all of us. We all express ourselves in different ways, and I think sometimes we forget about that. I may react to something different than you. You cant expect a person to "BE" just like you. Is it wrong because they arent? No, not in my book my blogging sisters! Everyone has a right to be who they are. I have now accepted my nemisis to be somewhat mentally challenged, and obviously, she cant help herself, so I have let 'IT' go. Im taking my own advice and finally shutting up! (Is that applauding I hear in the backround?)

Onto some new lovelies......

Ive been re~inspired to make some new banners, in honor of my fit! There are alot of weddings in the Spring and Summer, so I made some new wedding goodies! But please dont look at the ugly fence they are on. I have driven around the whole city looking for a great place to take pics, and theres just no where! There are lots of cool brick bldg's, but how are you going to hang a banner on a brick bldg?? So I have to find wood (for thumb tacks) or a place to tie them onto, and theres just nowhere, except the back yard. Just imagine they are hangin on an old horse fence, over looking a beautiful horse farm!

New Bag in town...

No, Im not talking about me....LOL!

I woke up this Saturday morning, with a thought. A thought that wouldnt go away. You know those kind? This thought was "Im going to make a bag today." And I havent made any bags in quite awhile, so I really dont know where this thought came from. My heart, I later found out. I knew I had create the bag that was in my head, so I headed up to my studio and began. This bag just flowed out of me. The fabric came out of the dryer perfect ( I mean supurb wrinkles and all), the cutting was perfect, the matching of the seams, perfect. Everything about this bag, was just perfect.(anyone who sews knows that nothing goes perfect all the way thru a project!) The phone didnt ring, no broken needles or threads, the bobbin was full. I had no interuptions! I mean, does this ever happen? NO! Not to me anyways! I cant tell you how many projects have ended up across the room from frustration! LOL! Especially when designing something! From begininning to end, the bag was a breeze. If I have a bag waiting on me up in heaven, I want it to be THIS BAG! Perhaps Im making a fuss about, to you, an 'average bag', but to me, it isnt. Im really proud of this one. And of course, I made two, So I could keep one and let someone else love it as much as I. Is it possible someone else could 'heart' this bag too? Someone else could see the dandiness of this fine bag? The thing is, for such a lovely bag (in my eyes) you'd think I would have captured the true beauty of the 'Heavenly bag' thru the lense, but it just didnt come out the way I wanted it to be. :( But I guess something had to go wrong, right? Im not complaining if thats all it is! Worse senerio, if no one else loves it as much as I, then I will give it away as a gift, or have two nifty bags all to myself!

Here is "Bella" & "Grady"! Grady is a black lab that was rescued from an abusive home (I'm sure Grady is very greatful to have found you!) And Bella is an Australian Shepherd that found her way to her new family just before Christmas! Bella and Grady are now the best of friends! Look at them! Arent they so cute?? As of late, Ive been working on some new birdnests. They are just so pretty and I cant seem to take enough pics of them! I guess with all the bad weather we've had, its gettin me in the mood for SPRING! I acually have two new nests! One, has delicate vintage lace and white glittered eggs with a fesh sprig of cedar...

and the other has a beutiful white (clip on) bird that sits and guards her german glass glittered eggs

Thank you so much for all the warm welcomes from all of you! It means so much!!

I'd like to say "THANK YOU!!" to my bestest Etsy pal Sarah from 'My so called junky life' for setting me up on my blog and creating my beautiful blog banner! I never thought I'd have such a pretty blog!! To be honest, having a blog always seemed like it would take up any extra time I have (which is hardly any), plus, Im much more a 'creator' than a writer. So there will probably be alot more photos than words here!

Sarah is one of those people that you are fortunate to have in your life. She's very warm and caring, and listens to me babble about the husband, the kids, this and that. We met on etsy, she bought a hat from me when I first started out. (Remember the hat Sarah?) Acually, I think we traded for something. Anyways, we became friends not long after that. We talk on the phone, she sends me goodies in the mail, I send her goodies in the mail. I will call her and say "Hey Sarah, I need some doilies and some vintage buttons, got any??" And she will say "I need some banners for my booth, can you make me some?". Even though she is in Missouri, and I in North Carolina, we are always there for each other. I truely cherrish our friendship! Sarah and I have never met in person, but we plan one day to meet in Texas for the Marborough show, just us two, and lots of shopping! Who knows, maybe one day we will both be IN the show!

Heres a little news that Im pretty excited about! One of my banners will be in the annual issue of "REAL SIMPLE" Magazine! Its their annual 'Weddings' issue! It was supposed to come out yesterday and I have yet to see it! (Ive only been to Walmart and its not out on the shelves as of today) Cant wait to see it!

Enough talking! I gotta go back into my studio and make 25 birdnest gift bags for a baby shower!
